About this reference

The Heuer Autavia reference 3646 is a manual-wind chronograph produced between approximately 1962 and 1968. Collectors prioritize this reference as part of the first-generation Autavia series, characterized by a 38mm stainless steel screw-back case and a rotating bezel. It utilizes the Valjoux 92 movement, a two-register caliber distinguished by its oscillating pinion design. Early executions are particularly sought after for their "big subdial" configuration and dauphine hands, while later versions transitioned to smaller registers and baton hands. Due to low production numbers compared to later Carrera models, the 3646 is considered rare. Current secondary market prices typically range from $15,000 to over $35,000 depending on the execution and bezel type. A notable variant is the "Indianapolis Motor Speedway" edition, which features the IMS logo on the dial and commands a significant premium at specialized auctions.
