Privacy policy

This policy describes how Most Expensive Watches handles information when you use this site, its public API and its MCP server. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@mostexpensivewatches.net.

Site events and request information

We record first-party events in Google Cloud Firestore to understand site use, measure links and improve the service. Events can include page views, searches, navigation and dealer-link clicks, consent choices, API requests and MCP tool calls. Depending on the event, records contain a timestamp, page or endpoint, search parameters, link target, referring page or source hostname, browser or client information and a random first-party session identifier. These first-party events operate independently of optional Google cookies.

For outbound-click attribution and alert rate limits, we use ip_hash, a shortened hash of the IP address combined with the current date, rather than the raw IP address in that field. Hashing does not make all request information anonymous. Advertising click identifiers can also be recorded when supplied in a URL or an existing advertising cookie. Our hosting provider processes normal connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service.

Cookies and browser storage

Our first-party cookies include mew_sid (a random identifier used to distinguish browser visits), mew_js (whether the page script ran) and mew_ccy (your selected currency). Each has a maximum lifetime of 180 days. If you use email-based wishlist access, mew_email can remember your email address for up to one year.

We store your cookie choice, its version and timestamp in your browser's local storage under mew_consent_v2. The Hammer game also stores progress and statistics locally. These local-storage entries have no automatic expiry in the site code; you can remove them using your browser settings.

Optional Google advertising and analytics storage starts as denied unless you previously accepted it. Accept all grants it; Reject optional leaves it denied. You can reopen Cookie settings in the footer to change your choice. This controls future Google tag behavior; browser settings let you delete cookies already stored.

Where Google tags are configured, they load with Google Consent Mode. While optional storage is denied, consent-aware Google tags do not set their advertising or analytics cookies, but may still send consent signals and measurements without cookies. Accepting enables the corresponding storage and data-use settings. Google explains this behavior in its Consent Mode documentation. Rejecting optional cookies does not disable our own event collection described above.

Information you choose to send

Contact forms and access requests collect the details you submit, such as your name, email address, company, subject and message, and can store the submitting IP address for abuse prevention. We use those details to handle your request. Contact messages may be processed by Google's Gemini service for classification, and emails are delivered through Resend. Newsletter and price-alert features store your email address and relevant subscription or watch preferences. Use the unsubscribe link in an email to stop that subscription, or contact us.

If you use an AI feature on the site, the text, image or audio you submit to that feature may be processed by its AI provider to answer your request. Avoid sending sensitive personal information.

API, MCP and ChatGPT Actions

The public read-only watch API and GPT Actions require only watch-related query parameters, such as a brand, reference, price range or lot identifier. They do not require your name, email address or payment details. A GPT Action sends the parameters for that request to our API; it does not provide us with your full ChatGPT conversation. API responses contain watch-market data rather than private subscriber or contact records.

We also process the request metadata described above. API logs may include query strings; MCP measurement records the method, tool name and client information. Do not place personal information or secrets in search parameters. ChatGPT and other clients handle your conversations under their own privacy policies.

Providers and external links

We use Google Cloud for hosting and data storage, Google services for configured AI and measurement features, and Resend for email delivery. These providers process the information needed for those functions. Clicking a dealer or affiliate link takes you to another service, which receives the request and applies its own privacy and cookie policies. Affiliate networks may use attribution technology on their destinations; see our affiliate disclosure.

Retention and your choices

The browser-storage lifetimes are listed above. First-party event records may remain stored until deleted; no fixed automatic deletion period is promised. Subscription, contact and correspondence records can remain stored until removed; unsubscribing stops messages and does not by itself erase every related record. Hosting logs and provider records are subject to their configured retention and the providers' own policies.

You can ask us about access, correction or deletion of information associated with you at hello@mostexpensivewatches.net. Include enough context to locate the record, without sending passwords or payment information. We will explain any records we need to retain for legal, security or suppression purposes and handle requests under applicable law.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies this version. Read our terms of use for service and data-use conditions.
