About this reference

Released in 2008 to commemorate the brand’s 140th anniversary, the IWC Vintage Collection Jubilee Edition set consists of six watches reimagining foundational models: the Portuguese, Ingenieur, Da Vinci, Aquatimer, Pilot’s Watch, and Portofino. The platinum edition was limited to 500 sets globally, though individual pieces were also sold separately. Collectors value this reference for its use of in-house manufacture movements, such as the caliber 98245 in the Portuguese and the caliber 80111 in the Ingenieur, housed in 950 platinum cases with silver-plated dials and sapphire casebacks. This set represents a transition toward IWC’s modern manufacture era while maintaining historical dimensions. On the secondary market, individual platinum pieces typically trade between $15,000 and $25,000, while complete six-watch sets in the original presentation trunk are rare, often valued in the low-six-figures. A complete platinum set notably realized approximately $130,000 at a major 2015 auction.
