About this reference

The Audemars Piguet Reference 1533 was produced in the early 1940s, with approximately nine units manufactured between 1941 and 1943. Collectors value this reference for its oversized 36mm case, which was unusually large for the era, and its use of the Valjoux-based caliber 13VZAH. The construction typically features a stainless steel mid-case paired with 18k rose gold bezels, pushers, and crowns. The dials often feature a two-tone aesthetic with tachymeter scales and baton markers. Due to the extreme rarity of vintage Audemars Piguet chronographs—of which only 307 were made between 1930 and 1950—this reference occupies a significant place in the brand's history. On the secondary market, these watches command prices in the mid-to-high six-figure range. A notable example formerly owned by Giorgio Seragnoli sold at auction in 2015 for approximately 305,000 CHF, serving as the design inspiration for the 2020 [Re]master01 release.
