About this reference

Produced between 1940 and approximately 1965, the Patek Philippe Reference 1463 was the manufacturer’s first water-resistant chronograph featuring a screw-down caseback and round pump pushers. Collectors prioritize the stainless steel variant due to its rarity compared to yellow gold iterations, with fewer than 200 steel examples estimated to exist. The watch utilizes the manual-wind Caliber 13-130, based on a Valjoux ebauche, housed within a 35mm case manufactured by François Borgel. Its distinctive oversized, fluted chronograph pushers earned it the Italian nickname "Tasti Tondi." On the secondary market, stainless steel examples typically command prices in the mid-to-high six-figure range, often exceeding $400,000 depending on dial configuration and condition. A notable variant includes those featuring a "sector" dial or retailer signatures such as Tiffany & Co. or Cartier, which significantly increase valuation at international auctions.
