Zenith El Primero

About this reference

The Zenith El Primero G583 was produced between 1969 and 1972 as part of the initial launch of the El Primero high-beat automatic chronograph movement. This reference features a 37mm 18k yellow gold case with a round profile and pump pushers, distinguishing it from the angular steel A384 and A385 models of the same era. Collectors prioritize the G583 for its caliber 3019 PHC movement and its relative scarcity, as production was limited to approximately 600 units. The dial typically features a gold sunburst finish with black sub-dials and a tachymeter scale. On the secondary market, the G583 generally commands prices between $15,000 and $25,000 depending on the presence of the original gold ladder bracelet. A notable production detail is that the G583 represents one of the few precious metal executions from the original 1969 El Primero catalog.
