About this reference

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition Polaris Dawn, reference IW389111, was produced in 2022 as a limited series of four unique pieces. These watches were manufactured specifically for the crew of the Polaris Dawn mission and are not part of the standard commercial catalog. The reference features a 44.5mm white ceramic case paired with a space-blue lacquer dial that includes a star-patterned motif and the mission logo at the six o'clock position. It is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 caliber, an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement. Because these watches were assigned to specific astronauts, they rarely enter the secondary market. However, one example was auctioned by Christie’s in 2022 for approximately $40,000 to $50,000 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each case back is individually engraved with the name of one of the four crew members.
