About this reference

Philippe Dufour produced the Grande & Petite Sonnerie Minute Repeater between 1992 and 2002, following his development of the first wristwatch-sized grande sonnerie movement for Audemars Piguet. This reference is valued for being the first wristwatch to feature both a grande and petite sonnerie with a minute repeater under an independent name. The manual-wind movement contains 420 components and features two barrels to power the timekeeping and striking functions separately. The 18k yellow gold case typically measures 39mm and houses a white lacquer or enamel dial with Roman numerals and a blued steel handset. Only eight examples of this complication were produced in total across all metals, making it one of the rarest modern timepieces. On the secondary market, these watches command prices in the mid-seven-figure range. A yellow gold example notably sold at an A Collected Man auction in 2021 for $7.63 million.
