About this reference

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6270 was produced in the mid-1980s, specifically around 1984 to 1986, as a special commission for the Sultan of Oman. This 18k yellow gold manual-wind chronograph features the Valjoux-based caliber 727. It is distinguished by its gem-set construction, featuring a pavé diamond dial with sapphire hour markers, a bezel set with 28 baguette-cut diamonds, and sub-dials in a contrasting purple-blue hue. Due to an extremely limited production run estimated at eight units, this reference is among the rarest vintage Daytonas. On the secondary market, the 6270 commands prices in the high-six-figure to low-seven-figure range. A notable auction result occurred in 2023 when a well-preserved example sold for approximately 3.7 million CHF, reflecting its status as the first diamond-set Daytona reference ever produced by the manufacturer.
